Halong bay hosts the Asian Women Volley ball Contest
The 2013 Tuan Chau-HaLong Asian Women’s Beach Volleyball Tournament kicked off on Thursday in northern Vietnam city Halong, 150 kilometers east of capital Hanoi.
The four-day tournament is part of the competition system of the Asian Beach Volleyball Confederation, and is one of the programs welcoming the annual tourism promotion festival Halong Carnival, which is to takes place on Saturday, according to Vietnam’s state-run news agency VNA.
The tournament attracts 12 teams from seven countries and regions, including Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, New Zealand and Vietnam.
After the opening ceremony, a match between Vietnam and Thailand took place with a 2-0 victory for the latter.
